Material Thinking Won’t Build Your Creative Empire

Most of our collective perception today is rooted in a material, rational understanding of the world. We might not be aware of it but it’s the things we can see and touch that hold authority in our minds.

In the age of information, with the rise of the creative economy, this worldview is starting to limit us. Not so much because it is invalid- a material worldview is perfectly suitable for a material, mechanical context. But more so because we are forced to question its soundness for our creative activity.

With more people taking up creative roles and seeking self-employment, it is time to examine our collective programming, our default world map we use for navigating our careers, businesses, and personal lives.

For players in the creative economy, this is especially crucial: Creative entrepreneurship is spiritual in nature after all.

To understand that, let’s look at the Cambridge definition of the word “create”. It is “to cause something to exist.”

To create is quite literally to bring something into existence. You take something from the unseen world and bring it into the material world. As a creative, by default, you navigate between the unseen and the seen world.

Understanding spiritual law now becomes a straightforward necessity. While it’s inspiring, interesting, and beneficial to certainly all groups, it is a win-or-lose situation for someone on a creative path seeking to create a livelihood around it.

We want to see creatives thrive and shine.

It is time for an expanded world map.
